I’ve been keeping some exciting news under wraps, and I’m thrilled to finally share it with you all. This year has been particularly challenging for many creatives in the animation industry, myself included. I’ve seen countless posts on LinkedIn from fellow artists and directors struggling to find work, and it’s no secret that securing directorial positions has been more difficult than ever.
But I refuse to give up. When one door closes, I believe in finding a way to push through. After facing many rejections this year, I decided it was time to forge my own path rather than waiting for the next opportunity to come my way. So, I applied for a Developing Your Creative Practice (DYCP) grant from Arts Council England, and I’m thrilled to announce that my application was successful!
This grant will allow me to dedicate the next few months to a project that’s deeply important to me—exploring mental health through the lens of XR (Extended Reality). It’s an ambitious endeavor, and I’m eager to dive into this creative journey, pushing the boundaries of storytelling and animation.
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported me throughout this process. A huge thank you to my producer, Emilie Dubois, for taking the time to review my application and provide invaluable feedback. My gratitude also goes to Marc Booth at b3media for writing such a beautiful supporting letter, which played a crucial role in this success. And, of course, a special thanks to my family for their unwavering support of my creative dreams—they’ve always believed in me, even when the road was tough.
Lastly, I want to express my sincere appreciation to Arts Council England for believing in this project and providing me with the resources to bring it to life. This grant isn’t just an opportunity—it’s a vote of confidence in the power of storytelling to make a difference in the world.
I can’t wait to share more about this project in the coming months. Stay tuned for updates as I embark on this exciting new chapter!
